Collection of papers regarding the retirement of the USS Oceanographer, 1944, 1947.

Consists of newspaper clippings, photographs, and letters related to the USS Oceanographer, built in 1898 for J.P. Morgan and called Corsair III. The yacht was sold to the United States Navy in 1930 and served in the Navy until 1944 when it was retired. Letters to and from Junius S. Morgan, son of J.P. Morgan, document the ship's decommission from the Navy and its eventual disposition.
